History

Dafter Township, originally named Stevensburg, was established in 1879. It is located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The name was changed to Dafter in 1893. The Minneapolis, St. Paul, Sault Ste. Marie Railroad had a depot here which primarily handled lumber.                                     At one time, there were banks, shops, churches and a school.
