History
| Dafter Township, originally
named Stevensburg, was established in 1879.
It is located in the Upper Peninsula of
Michigan. The name was changed to Dafter in
1893. The Minneapolis, St. Paul, Sault Ste.
Marie Railroad had a depot here which
primarily handled lumber.
At one time, there were banks, shops,
churches and a school. The Post Office was
opened in 1879 and is still in existence.
